Jen: The Girl Next Door !
You're caring, warm, and the girl that nice guys want to marry. Uncomplicated and simple, you've got an easy going attitude guys love. But this doesn't mean you're dull - far from it! You're a great conversationalist, and you're an expert at living the good life.
What Kind of Girl Are You? Take This Quiz :-)
Thanks to Shroom and to Mr. Pepper, we now know what kind of girl Jen is.

Garden State
The latest arrival from our Netflix queue was Garden State. I have to say that this was the best movie that I've seen in recent memory. It was an entirely unquirky comedy that was completely honest, well-written, well-filmed and featured first-class acting by Zach Braff and Natalie Portman. I love Braff in Scrubs, but this role was something unexpected, and showed that he possesses a great deal of talent. What made the movie so brilliant was the chemistry between the two lead characters (Largeman and Samantha). I think that Shroom would especially appreciate the portrayal of romance in this flick.

Two-Week Checkup
Avery's two-week checkup was this afternoon, and all is well. He's the same length as when he was born, but he now weights 8 lbs, 3.5 oz. Look for some cool charts of these data as the months progress. For now, I've just too few data points. -Jason

Avery and I
Avery is taking a morning snooze (he exists in a state of almost continual snooze at the moment). Dad returned to work this morning. It was really nice to have him home last week. He took very good care of Avery and I, our 4-legged children and our home. Avery and I miss our relaxed (if not a bit lazy) family morning routine with Dad this morning. We'll manage just fine, but will miss Dad on our afternoon walk... and so it's just Avery and I today. - Jen

Back to work, and more photos for Gram
So I'm heading back to work tomorrow and Jen will be on her own. She'll be posting something herself soon. It's been nice to spend some time at home with my family. The weather has been so nice the past few days and taking walks has been especially nice. Avery is spending nights in his own room now. While he's silent when he's awake (mostly), he makes some pretty strange and frequent sounds while he's sleeping.
I've posted a few new photos to keep Gram checking back, and because she reminded me that I hadn't posted any new ones for a couple of days. If anyone would like to get prints made of any photo they see, let me know, and I'll email you a high-quality image.

Avery's First Walk
The weather has been beautiful today, and we all took our first walk outside. Well, except for Buggy, he's not so keen about walking outside, but the rest of us. There was some gravel on the road, but it was no match for our all-terrain stoller. Max was his usual happy walking self, and Avery, well, Avery slept. That's what he does.

comments
So I just realized that not just anyone could leave a comment--they had to be a blogger user. I changed that setting, so now anyone can leave a comment. I'm sure that's what was holding everyone back. Everyone is doing very well. Avery had his first doctor's appointment this morning, which went perfectly. Note that I put up some pictures (link on right). Thanks for all of your well-wishes. We hope to hear more from all of you soon.

Day 2
I'm home tending to our first two children, Max and Bug (aka Sneezy the dwarf cat). Jen is doing extremely well. She was up and around a bit today. Avery slept most of the day, despite the best efforts of Gram and Pa to wake him during their visit. We also had another great visit from Gramah (note the -ah spelling, it was her request). We are especially thankful for her checking in on the aforementioned pets.

Mom and Baby (and Dad) are doing very well. It was a long first night without much sleep, but Mr. Avery's big dark eyes seemed to make it worthwile. I'm headed back to the hospital. JR.
