Welcome to the Jungle!

We got fun and games... Avery's jungle friends make their blog debut. Some more tummy-time for Mr. Avery. Today, he was introduced to the fine world of solid (?) cuisine. Rice cereal was on the menu, and he ate his tablespoon heartily. 

Going Mobile

Avery is starting to go mobile. The thought is a bit scary, but he's got a way to go yet before he can cover serious distances, so we have time to let the idea sink in and baby-proof our house. 

Meet Blue Dog

This is one of Avery's creatures that lives on the carseat handle. It was the first object that Avery reached for. Now, as soon as we place Avery in his carseat, he immediately starts reaching for Blue Dog, Green Bear and Yellow Duckie.

Classic Avery

Avery and Pooh. He is gaining control of his hands more and more every day. 

Isn't he beautiful? What else can I say? Avery is a lot of fun right now... every day he seems to figure out something new. Here he is in his Johnny Jump Up. 

Tummy-Time

Avery generally hates tummy-time, but he was definitely enjoying it tonight. Tummy-time is great, like most things, in moderation. 

Jumpin' Droolster

Avery played in the Johnny Jump Up for the first time today. Here he is smiling for his dad. As you can see, he drools a lot! 

First Fathers Day

My first Fathers Day as a father went well. I got in some
fishing, and despite losing my favorite lure, it was nice. Avery
(and his friends) made me a nice picture frame and put a photo of
him playing in it. All in all, a great first Fathers day.

Asleep on the Swing

This was taken at Avery's daycare. They gave us a CD of photos they'd taken of him over the past two weeks. 

Avery Meets Uncle Bryan

We enjoyed dinner with Grammah and Uncle Bryan tonight. 

Green Woodchuck Captivates

Aware of his surroundings? You bet. He is able to concentrate on objects for long periods. This picture was snapped after Avery stared at one green animal for several hours. Perhaps a day. Jen insists it's a bear. But seriously, when was the last time that you saw a lime green bear? 

A Stationary Walker

Avery has started playing in his ExerSaucer. It's basically a wheel-less, stationary walker. Apparently walkers are too dangerous. Stairways and all. Anyways (archaic version of anyway), he is enjoying trying out some new things. Bluedog is currently his favorite toy. We plan to introduce Bluedog in a future post. So how about that red hair? 

Avery Takes a Dip at Grammie's

Avery enjoyed his first dip in the pool at Grammie and Papa Richard's house. And it was his Grammie's Birthday. See more pictures.

Avery's 1st Day @ Daycare

Today is Avery's first day at daycare. Jen brought him so that
she could explain his various quirks and routines. She is the
best Mom that Avery could ask for (if he could talk), and we both
love her very much. -jgr

Are you talking to ME?

Avery sporting a new outfit from Grammah! He is in his crib watching the monkey people from above, thanks to Auntie Devon. 

Sleep

So last night, Avery had his bath, then his last feeding at 7pm and was asleep in his crib at 8pm. He didn't wake up until 2:30am!!!! He ate and went back to sleep easily. He was quite loud from 4 to 5:15 (he makes some strange noises in his sleep), when he was ready to see the world. So, although I don't think we've actually graduated to a new sleep schedule... it was SO nice!!!!

Avery and Papa

Avery enjoyed some love from Papa on our soggy Memorial Day. Notice the similar hair cut. 

Good Morning Toes

Avery-speak is getting into my brain. Every time I hear someone
say "good morning," I feel like saying "good morning toes!" in
reply.
