Camping Trip

We ventured out on our first camping trip with the new camper during the holiday weekend. We didn't go far--just to a KOA campground in Richmond. Avery got to act out all of the stock camping activities that he has been chattering about for a couple of weeks, like playing on the playground and having a campfire and eating marshmallows. We've included some key pictures from the weekend, which include Avery digging in the dirt; Avery riding his bike down the big hill; our campsite; Avery and Ashton, the six-year-old that adopted Avery as a buddy; Avery sleeping comfortably in his sleeping bag; Avery preparing the traditional kid camping breakfast of cereal from a single-serving box; and the colorful curtains and cushion covers that Jen made for our camper.

The camper was great. It is nice to have a place to sit down with Avery and color, an awning to sit under for some shade, and a place to retreat when it rains. We are definitely looking forward to many more trips this summer.

Avery had SO much fun this weekend. He really enjoyed stomping around with his new campground buddies, Ashton and Colin, both six. I couldn't believe my two year old peanut out there... telling us to watch him do tricks on his bike while Fred Flinstone-ing down the big hill, playing football (oh yes, with full tackling), with absolutely NO fear on the big kid swingset. While walking up the hill at one point, he wrapped his arm around Ashton's waist and walked side by side with him - it was so sweet. We are all looking forward to many more trips this summer!

You will have so much fun with the camper and see all the beautiful things of nature and believe me, they are everywhere! I bet old memories came back to Jason, and all the places he went as a kid, and I am so happy that Jen and Jason are doing it with Avery. Have fun and enjoy the camper!!!!!

Great photos :) The camper is OH, SO NICE! Much easier camping in the pop up vs sleeping on the ground-no-matter-what-the-weather-might-be... It is so much fun to remember and re-experience life events like camping through the eyes of little A... Nice post :)
